June 8, 2015

SKILLMAN, N.J. -- The Northern Illinois University men's tennis team was ranked eighth in the Midwest Region in the recently released final Oracle/Intercollegiate Tennis Association Rankings. The Huskies claimed their third consecutive top-10 regional ranking after finishing the season with an 18-6 overall record and a second-straight Mid-American Conference regular season title.

NIU continued its trend of success on the tennis court despite having just two upperclassmen on the roster in senior Frederic Cadieux (Verdun, Quebec, Canada/Ediuard-Montpetit) and junior Simon Formont (Orléans, France/Lycée Camille Claudel). Cadieux earend 17 singles victories on his way to being named All-MAC First Team while finishing his career with 95 singles wins, tied for third-most in school history.

Sophomore Carlos Manzanas (Madrid, Spain/IES Principe Felipe) and freshman Louis-Philippe Hamel (Drummondville, Quebec, Canada) each recorded 20-win seasons with Manzanas leading the way with 21 victories.

Cadieux, Formont and Manzanas also earned Academic All-MAC recognition as the Huskies also continued to achieve success in the classroom. NIU posted a perfect score in the recently released NCAA multi-year Academic Progress Rate and received the Public Recognition Award for 2015.

NIU has moved up one spot in the ITA Midwest Regional ranking in each of the past two years. The Huskies earned the number nine spot in the region in 2014 and were ranked number 10 in 2013.
