• Through two games this season, the NIU women's basketball team is third in the country in scoring with 102 points per game, trailing only Michigan (104) and 2015 Final Four participant Maryland (103).
• Six different Huskies are averaging 10-or-more in points per game, led by
Ally Lehman (27.5), who is currently ranked seventh in the country. Freshman
Janae Poisson (14.0) is in the group of six and owns the highest scoring average by a freshman since at least 2005-06.
•
Ally Lehman tied the Mid-American Conference record and set a brand new NIU high with her 48 points versus Milwaukee Wednesday night, including 18 points in overtime. Lehman also pulled down 21 rebounds, tying her career-high.
• Lehman is the first guard and only the fourth player since 2009-10 to record at least 40 points and 20 rebounds in a game. Akron's Rachel Tecca was the last player to accomplish the feat, registering 43 points and 22 boards against Eastern Michigan (Jan. 26, 2014).
• Prior to the game on Wednesday night, Lehman received her orders from the United States Army that she would be serving as an infantrywoman when she graduates. She will train at Fort Benning, Georgia, where 10 women graduated from the Infantry Basic Officer Leaders Course (IBOLC) last October in the first steps towards integrating gender into infantry platoon leaders.
• Northern Illinois University's 114-point effort against the Panthers was the program's first 100-point game since scoring 102 in four overtimes on Feb. 18, 2004 versus Bowling Green.
• Coincidentally, NIU had not crossed the 110-point threshold since defeating Milwaukee March 2, 1996, 117-52, when NIU Athletics Hall of Famer Charmonique Stallworth tied the Huskies previous scoring record of 41 points.
• Through two games this season, the Huskies are shooting over 79 percent from the free throw line, an improvement of over 32 percent at the stripe with 14 more attempts this season.
• The overtime win was NIU's first under second-year Head Coach
Lisa Carlsen, going 0-2 in overtime contests last season. The Huskies are 27-25 all-time in overtime games, including a 4-2 mark in double overtime matches.
• This will be the first meeting between the Huskies and Leathernecks since a double-overtime victory by NIU on Nov. 16, 2011 in the Convocation Center, 91-84, the Huskies last double overtime game until last Wednesday's.
• Western Illinois is 2-1 this season, scoring over 100 points in its wins over Monmouth College and Southeast Missouri State.
