Meg Wolowicz (Manitowoc, Wis./Manitowoc Lincoln) of the Northern Illinois University volleyball team was named the Mid-American Conference West Division Offensive Player of the Week, the league office announced on Monday.
Wolowicz averaged 3.86 kills and 4.14 points per set, while hitting .404, in a weekend split against Ball State and Toledo.
In the weekend opener against Ball State (Nov. 10), Wolowicz recorded 19 kills on just 31 swings, hitting an astronomical .516 against the Cardinals. In the first set of the match, Wolowicz posted nine kills on 10 attempts. The Manitowoc, Wis., native also tallied three digs and a block against the Cardinals. The following night against Toledo (Nov. 11), Wolowicz had eight kills and hit .238, while adding a pair of blocks, in a three-set sweep of the Rockets.
For the season, Wolowicz averaged 2.55 kills and 3.21 points per set, hitting .257 while also averaging 0.97 blocks per set.
This is the first career Offensive Player of the Week honor for Wolowicz, last season she was twice named the MAC West Defensive Player of the Week (Aug. 29, 2016 and Sept. 26, 2016).
