DEKALB, Ill. – The Northern Illinois University men's basketball team will be back on the road on Tuesday night, Jan. 16, as the Huskies make the longest trip in the Mid-American Conference when they travel to Buffalo. Game time in Western New York is scheduled for 6 p.m. CT and will be available on ESPN3.
The Huskies head to The Empire State at 9-8 overall and 2-2 in the MAC on the heels of a 72-66 home victory over Eastern Michigan on Saturday afternoon (Jan. 13). Sophomore
Eugene German (Gary, Ind./21st Century Charter) scored a game-high 26 points, including five three-pointers, to lead the Huskies past the Eagles.
German's five triples are the most by a Huskie in a game since
Travon Baker netted six on Jan. 22, 2016, in a nine-point victory over Toledo.
Junior
Levi Bradley (Milwaukee, Wis./Pius XI) had 14 points in the win over Eastern Michigan while sophomore
Justin Thomas (Indianapolis, Ind./Pike) scored 11 points off the bench. Thomas is averaging 9.2 points per game over the last five games, shooting 51.4 percent (18-of-35) from the field during that stretch.
The Buffalo Bulls have a 12-5 overall record, including a perfect 4-0 mark in MAC play. Buffalo is 7-1 at home this season, with its lone blemish coming against St. Bonaventure on Dec. 2 (73-62). C.J. Massinburg leads five Bulls scoring in double figures at 18.7 points per contest. Wes Clark (16.7), Nick Perkins (15.4), Jeremy Harris (12.5) and Dontay Caruthers (11.3) also average double figures for Buffalo.
Buffalo is one of the two MAC East Division foes the Huskies will meet twice this season, along with Bowling Green. The Bulls will make the return trip to DeKalb on Saturday, Feb. 10.
Following Tuesday's matchup in Buffalo, the Huskies will be back on the road on Saturday, Jan. 20, when they travel to Akron, Ohio, to meet the Zips. NIU will return home on Tuesday, Jan. 23, when it hosts Bowling Green.
