Meg Wolowicz (Manitowoc, Wis./Manitowoc Lincoln) and sophomore
Jori Radtke (Buffalo Grove, Ill./Stevenson) of the Northern Illinois University volleyball team were named to the Mid-American Conference Volleyball All-MAC First Team on Wednesday.
This is Wolowicz's second consecutive All-MAC First Team honor and fourth postseason MAC award. The senior finished the regular season second in the MAC with 4.03 kills per set after changing positions from middle blocker to outside hitter. She was named MAC West Offensive Player of the Week twice this season. Wolowicz set single-season career-highs this year with 472 kills, 189 digs, and 25 service aces. She has had eight matches with at least 20 kills this season, including a career-high 30 against Chicago State on Sept. 11. Wolowicz also had six double-doubles on the season of which three came in conference play. On Oct. 13, Wolowicz became the 23
rd Huskie in NIU volleyball history to reach 1,000 kills.
For Radtke, this is her first career postseason honor. Radtke was sixth in the MAC in kills this season at 3.25 per set. She improved her offensive output by 200 kills, putting down 383. Radtke also had a career-high 334 digs, with double-digit kills in 20 matches. The sophomore led NIU with 15 double-doubles on the year with a stretch of seven in eight matches from Sept. 11 to Sept. 27. She had a career-high 19 kills in a match twice, both coming in wins at Central Michigan on Oct. 6 and at Ohio on Oct. 20. On Nov. 9, Radtke had 12 kills, 12 digs, and a career-high seven blocks in NIU's 3-2 win over Central Michigan.
The sixth-seeded Huskies take on the number seven seed Ohio Thursday at 6 p.m. in the first round of the MAC Volleyball Championship, hosted by Miami. The match will be broadcast on ESPN+.
