DEKALB, Ill. – The Northern Illinois University women's tennis team travels to Florida for spring break trip to play three games starting in Orlando on Tuesday.
The Huskies (4-7) take on Southern Miss at 2 p.m. CT on Tuesday before traveling to Daytona Beach, Fla. for a match with Bethune-Cookman on Wednesday at 11 a.m. NIU returns to Orlando for a 9 a.m. contest with Florida A&M on Thursday.
NIU's spring break trip marks the beginning of the second half of the season and the final matches before heading into conference play. Including this week's matches, the Huskies will play 11 more matches this season.
"The team is looking to forward to playing outside and facing some good competition," said NIU head coach
Tanya Mahefu. "This will be a good chance for us to get used to playing outside as we may play most of our conference matches outside."
Brodie Walker (Bristol, England/Bristol Grammar School) leads NIU with a 5-5 record, including a 4-3 mark at No. 6 singles. Freshmen
Maria Potsi (Athens, Greece/1st Gel Cholargou) and
Lara Slisko (Essendon, Australia/St. Columba's College) lead the way for NIU's doubles team, going 4-4 on the year at No. 2 doubles.
