KENT, OH – Three run-scoring doubles, coupled with their second grand slam in as many days led Kent State to a series' sweep over the Northern Illinois University baseball team Saturday afternoon at Schoonover Field in a 14-0 win.
The Golden Flashes plated two or more runs in the first, third, fifth and eighth innings in improving their overall record to 22-10 and 9-3 in the Mid-American Conference. NIU fell to 11-23 and 3-9.
"Tough weekend all around," Huskies' head coach
Mike Kunigonis said. "We hit a bump in the road this weekend but need to keep working to get better every day."

George Faue (Corcoan, Minn./Iowa Central) suffered the loss as he worked 2 1/3 innings. He scattered nine hits and gave up five runs while striking out two batters.
Brad Wood (Orland Park, Ill./St. Laurence),
Jake Dunham (Plainfield, Ill./Plainfield North) and
Joe Jumonville (Munster, Ind./Munster) each had one of the Huskies' three hits.
"We will head back to Dekalb tonight and regroup for a tough week against three very tough opponents," Kunigonis said.
NIU hopes to rebound when it travels to Iowa City, Iowa for a single game with Big Ten Conference opponent the University of Iowa April 17 at 4 p.m.
