Women's Gymnastics | January 29

DeKalb, Ill. – Northern Illinois University gymnast Anna Martucci has been named the Mid-American Conference Specialist of the Week for the third time this season, the league office announced Tuesday.

Martucci, a senior from Clarkston, Mich. (Our Lady of the Lakes HS) won the honor after scoring a season high 9.925 on floor exercise to win the event in Sunday's tri-meet versus Bowling Green and UIC at the NIU Convocation Center.  Martucci's score is the highest score posted by any Huskie gymnast on any event in 2019 and tied for the fourth-highest floor exercise score in school history.

Her performance in the anchor position on floor exercise helped the NIU floor squad record a team total of 49.375 to break the school floor exercise record of 49.350 set at the 2017 MAC Championships.

Martucci, the 2018 MAC Specialist of the Year, also collected the MAC honor on January 8 and January 15 after each of the Huskies' first two meets of the season. She has now been named the MAC Specialist of the Week eight times in her NIU career and is averaging a score of 9.869 on floor exercise this year. She has two wins and two runner-up finishes on floor in her four meets this year.
