Dante Thorpe (Washington, D.C./Triton College) added 12 points and senior
Levi Bradley (Milwaukee, Wis./Pius XI) chipping in 11 points. Freshman
Trendon Hankerson (Novi, Mich./Novi), playing in his first collegiate game, added nine points on 3-of-4 shooting from three-point range.
NIU shot 42.9 percent (9-of-21) from beyond the three-point line against the Bobcats and currently rank second in the MAC in three-point shooting at 38 percent for the season.
The RedHawks come into Tuesday's contest with an 8-6 overall record, including a 0-1 mark in conference play after dropping an 84-77 decision at home against Central Michigan in the conference opener (Jan. 5); the setback was Miami's first home loss of the season. Two players are scoring in double figures for Miami, with Nike Sibande leading the way at 16.2 points per game, Dalonte Brown adds 15.5 points and a team-best 5.7 rebounds per contest.
Miami leads the all-time series against NIU, 29-17, and the RedHawks hold a 21-3 edge all-time in Oxford. Two of NIU's three wins at Miami have come during head coach
Mark Montgomery's tenure as the current NIU bench boss has a 2-2 record at Millett Hall.
Montgomery's Huskies snapped a 13-game losing streak in Oxford with a 72-61 victory on January 9, 2013 in which Aksel Bolin scored a team-high 11 points; NIU's most recent win at Miami came on February 4, 2015 when
Travon Baker banked in the game-winner with 2.4 seconds left to give the Huskies a 69-67 victory, Baker scored a team-high 16 points in the win.
