DEKALB, Ill. – Northern Illinois University defensive tackle
Jack Heflin garnered Honorable Mention All-America accolades from Pro Football Focus Monday, marking the third consecutive season a Huskie has been named to one of PFF's All-America teams.
A native of Prophetstown, Ill., Heflin, who made the team as an interior defender, led the Huskies in tackles for loss with a career-high 8.5 and quarterback hurries with three. His 31 tackles ranked 11th on the team, while his three forced fumbles ranked second in the Mid-American Conference and 16th in the country.
One of five MAC players to earn Honorable Mention All-America honors, Heflin was named MAC West Defensive Player of the Week after tallying a season-high six tackles, 1.5 tackles for loss and a quarterback sack in NIU's win at Toledo.
PFF also named Heflin to its MAC Defensive Team of the Week after the Huskies' win over Western Michigan in the season finale. He was an honorable mention selection to PFF's 2019 Mid-Season All-America Team.
Heflin is the second Huskie to be recognized as an All-American by Pro Football Focus, joining
Sutton Smith. Smith earned first team honors in 2017 and second team accolades in 2018.
