EAST LANSING, Mich. – The Northern Illinois University wrestling team split a pair of matches at Michigan State Saturday afternoon.

NIU (6-9, 1-2) defeated Bloomsburg, 33-6, before falling to Michigan State, 27-9. Three Huskies - Kenny Moore (San Diego, Calif./Hoover), Brit Wilson (Mexico, Mo./Mexico) and McCoy Kent (Modesto, Calif./Enochs) - each went 2-0 on the day.

"McCoy, Kenny and Brit led the way with a pair of wins each," said NIU head coach Ryan Ludwig. "McCoy has his offense rolling and executed well on his finishes."

Kent began his day with a 6-1 victory over Bloomsburg's Grant Bond before scoring a 5-3 decision over Michigan State's Jaden Enriquez. After a 5-1 win over Alex Carida of Bloomsburg, Moore posted a 7-1 victory in overtime over Michigan State's Logan Ritchie.

Wilson continues his stellar season, improving to 17-3 and has won nine of his last 10 bouts after his performance at Michigan State. The Huskie freshman scored an 11-0 maj. dec. win over Bloomsburg's Anthony Vetrano and an 8-3 victory over Drew Hughes of Michigan State.

Alijah Jeffery (Marion, Iowa/Linn Mar), Bryce and Drew West (Solon, Iowa/Solon), Will Feldkamp (Dexter, Mich./Dexter) and Andrew Scott recorded wins in the Huskies' victory over Bloomsburg.

The Huskies return to action Friday, Feb. 15 when NIU travels to Kent, Ohio to take on Mid-American Conference foe Kent State. The match starts at 6 p.m. CT.
