DeKALB, Ill. - The Northern Illinois University women's gymnastics team will host its Kids Club Meet against Illinois State for their last home meet on Friday, March 6 at 6 p.m. in Victor E. Court in the NIU Convocation Center.
Admission for the meet is free and it will be streamed live on niuhuskies.com and follow live scoring updates here. Due to the NIU men's basketball game in the arena at 7 p.m., fans who arrive at 6 p.m. or later must tell the ticket takers at the door that they are attending the gymnastics meet to be directed to Victor E. Court.
The Huskies are coming off of a dual meet weekend, as they competed in Nashville at the Tennessee Collegiate Classic and versus Ball State at home. On Sunday, NIU earned its second highest score of a season with a 195.750. The Huskies fell to Ball State by .05 points to make their record 3-2 in the MAC and 4-6 overall.
"For us we're still chasing those scores, we're still trying to build off what we did before. So, for me and us, it's just repeating what we did last week and just smoothing out some of the rough edges," said NIU head coach Sam Morreale.
As the team comes closer to the end of the regular season, injuries continued to affect the line-up, including the loss of freshman Brookelyn Sears last weekend. Despite the setbacks, the Huskies have been on an upward climb.
"Injuries are my least favorite part of this job and it obviously hurts to lose somebody like Brookelyn," said Morreale. "The good thing with the team is that there are people ready to be in those spots."
Following Friday's meet, the Huskies travel to Bowling Green for their final regular season meet on Saturday, March 14 at 1 p.m. (CT).
