KALAMAZOO, Mich. -- Mikael Vollbach (Rothis, Austria) and Armin Koschtojan (Halle, Germany) won the flight two doubles crown as the Northern Illinois University men's tennis team concludes the fall portion of its schedule this weekend at the Mid-American Conference Indoor Invite, hosted by Western Michigan. The pair posted a perfect 3-0 mark en route to claiming the flight two crown. 

In their opening match, Vollbach and Koschtojan dispatched of Buffalo's Finn MacNamara and Daniils Snaiders, 8-5, to move into the semifinals. An 8-5 victory over Parrish Simmons and Nathaniel Webster of Ball State put the Huskies in the final. The NIU duo downed another Ball State pair, Chris Adams and Vince Orlando, 8-6, in win the flight. 

Oliver Valentinsson (Malmo, Sweden) won a pair of matches in flight two singles, topping Western Michigan's Fynn Lohse, 7-6, 6-2, as well as Ball State's Danilo Kovacevic, 7-6, 6-4.

In flight three, a pair of Huskies won two matches as Vollbach and Victor Spolidorio (Peoria, Ill.) each other 2-1 marks. Vollbach topped Anshumat Srivastava of Binghamton, 6-1, 6-1 to advance to the semifinals, where he fell in three sets. The Rothis, Austria, native rebounded to close with a 3-6, 7-5, 10-5 win over Western Michigan's Joaquin Caballer.

Spolidorio topped Caballer in his first match, 6-2, 6-2, to move to the semifinal. After a three-set setback in the semifinal, Spolidorio closed with a 6-4, 6-4 win over Buffalo's Finn MacNamara. 

This weekend's action concludes the fall portion of the schedule for the Huskies. NIU will begin in dual match season against Illinois Springfield on Sunday, Jan. 23.
