CLEVELAND -- Armin Koschtojan (Halle, Germany) of the Northern Illinois University men's tennis team has been named the Mid-American Conference Male Scholar-Athlete of the Week, as announced by the league office on Wednesday (Sept. 15).
A business administration major with a 4.0 grade point average, Koschtojan went undefeated at the season opening tournament for the Huskies.
Koschtojan won both his singles and doubles flights as NIU men's tennis opened its fall schedule with the River Forest Collegiate Invitational (Sept. 10-11). He teamed up with
Mikael Vollbach (Rothis, Austria) to go 3-0 in the number three doubles flight, defeating duos from Eastern Illinois, Xavier and Illinois State by scores of 6-0, 6-3 and 6-3 respectively. The sophomore was a perfect 3-0 in his singles flight, winning two of his matches in three sets.
The Huskies will return to action at the Drake Invitational, Oct. 15-17, in Des Moines, Iowa.
