KALAMAZOO, Mich. – The Northern Illinois University men's tennis team concluded the fall portion of its schedule this weekend (Nov. 4-6) as the Huskies took part in the Mid-American Conference Indoor Championship at Western Michigan. Cheng En Tsai highlighted the action for NIU with a runner-up finish in flight two singles. 

En Tsai opened the tournament with a 7-6, 7-5 victory over Toledo's Krysztof Wetoszka to earn a spot in the semifinals. He then outlasted Danilo Kovacevic of Ball State in three sets, 6-3, 3-6, 6-2, to book a spot in the final against Western Michigan's Ben George. Just like the semifinal, En Tsai went three sets in the final but was upended by George, 4-6, 6-1, 6-3. 

Guy Dagan won a pair of matches played in a flight five. Dagan opened with a 6-4, 6-2 victory over Dan Pergel from Binghamton. In the semifinal, Dagan fell to Buffalo's Theodoris Mitsakos, 6-1, 6-3, before rebounding in the third-place matchup against Ferdinand Schlueter of Western Michigan with a 7-6, 6-3 win. 

In doubles, the Huskie duo of Hsiang Lee and Iker Gaztambide Arrastia posted a pair of victories in flight three. The NIU tandem dropped its opening match to Buffalo's Daniils Snaiders and Mitsakos, 8-6, before responding with a pair of narrow, 8-7 victories in the consolation rounds. Their first win came against Abe Wojtalik and Broc Fletcher from Ball State before topping Toledo's Luis Kleinschnitz and Matias Olivero. 

This weekend's tournament concludes fall play for the Huskies. NIU will begin dual match action on Friday, Jan. 20, when the Huskies travel to Drake.
