CLEVELAND – After the Northern Illinois University wrestling team took down Kent State 18-15 this past Sunday, No. 10 redshirt senior Izzak Olejnik was tabbed Co-Mid-American Conference Wrestler of the Week in recognition of his dominate performance against No. 25 Enrique Munguia, the league office announced Wednesday.

Wrestling at 165, Olejnik helped the Huskies (4-2) come back from a 9-3 deficit with a helpful bonus-point win over nationally ranked Munguia. Olejnik's 9-1 major decision win helped propel NIU in front of Kent State and spark the needed momentum to beat the Golden Flashes.

Olejnik's plaudit is NIU's first of the 2022-23 season.

The Huskies return to the mat Dec. 29-30 for the 58^th Ken Kraft Midlands Championships. The event is hosted by Northwestern and is held at the NOW Arena in in Hoffman Estates, Ill.
