DeKalb, Ill.—Northern Illinois University softball head coach
Christina Sutcliffe is excited to announce the addition of Hannah Clark to the Huskies softball program.
"Hannah brings a remarkable blend of expertise and passion to our program," said Sutcliffe. "As a former prestigious collegiate player, she knows what it takes to excel at the highest level of the game."
Clark comes to NIU following stints overseas with the Dutch and Italian leagues. With the Dutch league, Clark was a third baseman and a member of the Women's European Premier Championship squad. While a part of the Italian squad, Clark was in the top 5 for home runs, RBIs, slugging percentage, and on-base percentage. Clark was the MVP of the European Cup in Milan, Italy. Additionally, she was the on-base percentage and home run leader for the Federation of Italian Softball. "Her (Clark's) international experience has not only honed her skills but has also provided a global perspective on softball," noted Sutcliffe.
While playing her collegiate career at Eastern Kentucky University, Clark played second base and shortstop for the team while serving as a team captain for three seasons. In her career, Clark saw action in 219 games for Eastern Kentucky accumulating a .311 batting average. Additionally, she was the Eastern Kentucky leader in home runs and RBIs in 2019 and is currently still the career home run leader for Eastern Kentucky softball program. Further playing accolades include Clark earning Second Team All OVC and being named to the NISC All-Tournament Team in 2018. Finally, in 2019, she was a Third Team NCAA honoree, earned First Team All OVC, and was named to the All-Mideast Region Third Team.
Coach Sutcliffe couldn't be more pleased with the addition to her coaching staff. She states, "Clark's youthful energy and unwavering dedication to the sport will inspire our student-athletes to reach new heights. We are thrilled to welcome Hannah into our Huskie family, and we're confident that her leadership will usher in an exciting era of softball excellence at NIU."
Clark is a native of Lakewood, California, and holds an undergraduate degree in Middle-Grade Education from Eastern Kentucky and a Master's in School Counseling: Crisis and Trauma from Walden University.
