DeKALB, Ill. – Northern Illinois University senior linebacker
Tyler Jackson (Alief, Texas/DeSoto HS) has been named the Mid-American Conference West Division Defensive Player of the Week following his performance versus Ball State on Tuesday.
In his first start as a Huskie, Jackson made 10 tackles, 1.5 tackles for loss and one quarterback hurry. His 10 tackles are the second highest total by a Huskie defender in a single game all season. The 1.5 tackles for loss are also the most Jackson has recorded as a Huskie.
Jackson, who has played in every game this season as a graduate transfer from Lamar, is one of 14 seniors who will be honored prior to Tuesday night's game versus Western Michigan at Huskie Stadium. He currently ranks third on the team with 46 tackles, including 25 solo stops.
This week marks the first time this season that a Huskie has been named the defensive player of the week, and the fourth time a Huskie has received MAC player of the week honors in 2023. Previously, kicker

Tom Foley earned special teams player of the week recognition for games versus Ohio (Oct. 14) and Eastern Michigan (Oct. 21), respectively.
Antario Brown was named the MAC West offensive player of the week after the Akron (Oct. 7) game.
The Huskies return to Bob Brigham Field at Huskie Stadium on Tuesday, November 14 for a Senior Night game versus Western Michigan. Kickoff is set for 6 p.m. (CT).
