CLEVELAND – Eight members of the Northern Illinois University women's track and field team were named to the Outdoor Track and Field Academic All-MAC Team, announced by the conference office on Wednesday (June 28).
This is the second Outdoor Academic All-MAC honor for a trio of Huskies as
Julia Finegan (Palatine, Ill.),
Kayla La Fontain (Brookfield, Wis.) and
Kendal Only (Huntley, Ill.) each collected the award in 2022.
Five Huskies,
Kimone Hines (Hanover, Jamaica),
Joy Jackson (North Aurora, Ill.),
Katelyn Robbins (Liberty, Ill.),
Roshell Rowe (Manchester, N.J.) and
Emma Vorpagel (Hartland, Wis.), have earned Outdoor Track and Field Academic All-MAC honors for the first time.
Finegan and Vorpagel are each earning their third Academic All-MAC award of the year, as both collected the honor during the cross country and indoor track and field seasons. Jackson claims her second Academic All-MAC recognition of the year, as she was honored during cross country season, while La Fontain, Robbins and Rowe are also being honored for the second time this year after earning Academic All-MAC during indoor track and field.
The Academic All-MAC honor is for a student-athlete who has excelled in athletics and academics. To qualify, a student-athlete must be in their second year or later, have at least a 3.20 cumulative GPA and have participated in at least 50 percent of the contests for that particular sport.
