Gleason Adds Summers to Huskies Softball Staff

DeKALB, Ill.—Northern Illinois University softball head coach Kathryn Gleason is pleased to announce the addition of Emma Summers to the Huskies coaching staff.
 
Summers comes to the Huskies staff after serving as a graduate assistant coach at Evansville after competing for Belmont University 2022-23.
 
"I am excited to welcome Emma Summers to our coaching staff as the new Huskie Pitching Coach," noted Gleason. "Emma brings her experience of leading on the mound at Belmont University and most recently as a graduate assistant at Evansville.  She has a passion for pitching, teaching, learning, and helping others achieve on and off the field.  We are ready for her to hit the ground running as we begin preseason practice in preparation for our first games next month."
 
While at Belmont, Summers had 24 wins inside the circle with 41 starts for the Bruins. Summers recorded 145 strikeouts during her senior campaign and tallied seven shutouts in two seasons. Summers saw action in 63 games over two seasons with seven complete winning games during the 2023 season.
 
Summers earned MVC All-Tournament team honors in 2023, Scholar-Athlete Honorable Mention and NFCA Academic All-District honors in 2023 while claimed OVC All-Newcomer, All-Tournament, and Second Team honors in 2022.
 
Summers is a native of Nashville, Indiana and holds a degree in Chemistry from Belmont University.
 
The 2025 softball season gets underway for the Huskies as they compete at the Grand Canyon University Invitational, February 6-8, 2025.
