Women's Golf | October 20
SAN MARCOS, Texas—The Northern Illinois University women's golf team conclude action today at the Jim West Challenge, hosted by Texas State.
Mia Raines (Galena, Ohio/Olentangy Berlin) led the Huskies with a top-45 finish while being the lone Huskie to card a par round at the tournament. Raines tallied a total of seven birdies, with three coming in the first and third rounds.
"Jim West (and Texas State) do an amazing job at hosting an unbelievable event," said head coach
Kim Kester. "The tournament field was filled with top competition from around the country and this just continues to help us prepare for the rest of the season."
Dakota Tallent (Las Vegas, Nevada/Bishop Gorman) had a birdie in the first and second rounds as she was the second Huskie to record all rounds in the 70s this week.
Caroline Kent (Frisco, Texas/iUniversity Prep) had a pair of birdies in the first and second rounds as she carded rounds in the 70s this week.
Alexa Ouellet (Toronto, Ontario, Canada/De La Salle College) carded four birdies over three rounds this weekend, with two coming in the first round.
Emile Chile (Flower Mound, Texas/Flower Mound) had three birdies in her opening round before carding four in the third round to finish one over par.
Chile and Raines each birdied the third hole in the third round, a par five, while Kent and Ouellet birdied the 15th hole, first round, a par three.
The Huskies continue action down south as they travel to the White Sands Bahamas tournament. NIU is set to be the host school for the tournament which runs from October 24-26 on Paradise Island, Bahamas.
