CLEVELAND—For the second consecutive week, Northern Illinois University's Markel Baker (Freeport, Ill./Freeport) has been named the Mid-American Conference West Wrestler of the Week following action at the Boilermaker duals.
 
Baker, who was ranked No. 28 in last week's polls, started the day facing off with No. 22 Raymond Lopez of American University, where he posted a decisive 11-4 victory, helping NIU secure its first dual meet win of the season. 
 
In his second match of the day, he defeated No. 21 Blake Boarman of Purdue 8-6 in what would prove to be a momentum builder as the Huskies took three nationally ranked bouts from the Boilermakers. 
 
This is Baker's third honor from the conference as he improves to a 6-0 record on the season.
 
The Huskies continue action on the road as they travel to Bellarmine on November 21. Dual time is set for 5 p.m. CT with the dual being broadcast on ESPN+.
