DeKALB, Ill.—Academic honors continue to come in for the Northern Illinois University Huskies volleyball team as four members were named to the College Sports Communicators (CSC) Academic All-District team for 2025.
Rylea Alvin (Randolph, Wis./Randolph),
Autumn Flynn (Luxemburg, Wis./Luxemburg-Casco),
Emma McCartney (Cleveland, Ohio/Chadron), and
Kylie Schulze (Wonder Lake, Ill./Woodstock North) earned the honor for the first time in their careers as announced today (December 16).
The 2025 Academic All-District® Volleyball teams, selected by College Sports Communicators, recognize the nation's top student-athletes for their combined performances on the court and in the classroom. The CSC Academic All-America® program separately recognizes volleyball honorees in four divisions — NCAA Division I, NCAA Division II, NCAA Division III and NAIA.
Alvin saw action in all 27 games for the Huskies this past season, with 25 starts. Alvin averaged 1.24 kills per set with 129 kills this season. Leading the team in blocks, Alvin had 124 total blocks, an average of 1.19 per set, including 28 solo blocks. Alvin was No. 3 in the league for blocks per set in all games and conference only games.
Flynn had 25 starts this season with action in all games as she had 2.01 kills per set. Flynn recorded a total of 203 kills and 27 service aces, second on the team in the latter. On the blocking side of the ball, Flynn was second on the team in blocks with 76 total, an average of .75 per set. Flynn added 42 digs for the Huskies in her first season.
McCartney was the lone Huskie to start all games this season as she led the team in kills with 306 (2.86 per set). McCartney added 25 service aces and 34 assists for NIU in 107 played. On the defensive side, McCartney had 233 digs, an average of 2.18 per set and added 47 blocks this season.
Schulze had 22 starts in 27 games played and had 511 assists for an average of 4.87 per set. Schulze added 13 aces for the Huskies and 29 kills this season. Defensively, Schulze added 107 digs for 1.88 per set and two blocks in 105 sets played.
