COLUMBUS, Ohio—Leading the Huskies in the clubhouse for the sixth time this season,
Alexa Ouellet (Toronto, Ontario, Canada/De La Salle College) had a top-35 finish as the Northern Illinois University women's golf team finished action at the Therese Hession Invitational, hosted by Ohio State University.
As a team, the Huskies carded 17 birdies over three rounds.
Emma Thorman (Macomb, Ill./Macomb) and
Dakota Tallent (Las Vegas, Nevada/Bishop Gorman) each birdied the second hole during the third round while Ouellet and
Mia Raines (Galena, Ohio/Olentangy Berlin) birdied the 14th hole in round two.
The field included No. 17 Ohio State, No. 25 Michigan State, and two top-10 teams from NCAA Division II. The Huskies also competed against fellow MAC schools, Kent State, Ball State, Ohio, and Western Michigan in the par-72, 6,319-yard OSU Scarlet Course.
Ouellet carded a birdie in each of her first two rounds as she led the Huskies on the leaderboard in the second round. Ouellet was joined by Raines in carding a 79 in the first round.
Raines carded two birdies in the first round before adding a birdie in the second and third rounds. Raines led the Huskies in the final round, turning a score of 75. Tallent carded a pair of birdies in the front nine of her final round, turning in a 77 for the Huskies.
After seeing no birdies in the first round, Thorman had three consecutive birdies on holes 4 through 6 to turn in a 77 in round two. Thorman carded three birdies in the final round, including a pair on the back nine as she finished the third round with a score of 76.
Caroline Kent (Frisco, Texas/iUniversity Prep) carded a pair of consecutive birdies in the second round as she went eight over par. Kent recorded the final birdie for the Huskies in the third round.
The Huskies women's golf team will be in action at the 2025 MAC Women's Golf Championships, April 20-22 in Muncie, Indiana. Action will take place at the Delaware Country Club with tee times set for 9:30 a.m. ET.
