Women's Golf | April 21
MUNCIE, Indiana— Alexa Ouellet (Toronto, Ontario, Canada) posted the best round of the day, carding a 71 (one under par) as the Northern Illinois University Huskies women's golf team continued action at the 2025 Mid-American Conference Championships.
As a team, NIU carded 10 birdies on the front nine and jumped up five spots in the team standings to sit in second overall. NIU had the second-best round on the day as a team, carding a 304.
Ouellet, who is in a four-way tie for third, carded four birdies on the front nine joining
Mia Raines (Galena, Ohio/Olentangy Berlin) in the top-10 of all golfers.
"With a tight leaderboard, we were excited about the early tee time today. We knew the wind was going to pick up and today's conditions are similar to what we've seen this spring," said NIU head coach
Kim Kester. "Mia put together a great round yesterday and followed it up today with another solid round. Alexa had the best round of all the golfers in difficult conditions. The ladies knew the job that had to get done and they went and did it. As we go into tomorrow, we want to give it our all and play the best golf we can. We've eliminated a lot of big numbers and are staying in the moment."
Raines and
Caroline Kent (Frisco, Texas/iUniversity Prep) were five-over par in their rounds as Kent carded two birdies in the front nine. Raines finished the day in a tie for seventh place while Kent moved up seven spots from her first-round finish.
Dakota Tallent (Las Vegas, Nevada/Bishop Gorman) and
Emma Thorman (Macomb, Ill./Macomb) carded two birdies in their rounds today as they went seven-over on the day.
All five Huskies shot a 79 or better in the second round as NIU carded 11 total birdies on the day. Kent, Raines, and Thorman all birdied the first hole of the day in a round which saw multiple Huskies birdie the same hole. Kent and Thorman birdied the fourth hole while Ouellet and Tallent each secured a birdie on the eighth hole.
