DeKALB, Ill. – The Northern Illinois University women's basketball program announced its 2025-26 non-conference schedule on Friday. The Huskies will host future Horizon League rival Milwaukee in the home opener on Friday, Nov. 7.
The home opener at the NIU Convocation Center comes four days after the Huskies go to Southern Mississippi in the MAC-Sun Belt Challenge. NIU is back on the Convocation Center floor on Tuesday, Nov. 11 to face Western Illinois. The Huskies made a program record 21 three-pointers in the last meeting against the Leathernecks in DeKalb on Nov. 17, 2022, a 100-61 win.
NIU starts a stretch of eight out of nine games on the road on Thursday, Nov. 13 at UIC. The Huskies then go down to Edwardsville to face SIUE on Friday, Nov. 21. NIU comes back to the Convocation Center on Monday, Nov. 24 to take on Chicago State. For the first time in 25 years NIU will face Evansville on Sunday, Nov. 30 at Evansville before a game at Indiana State on Wednesday Dec. 3.
The Huskies head to Iowa State on Sunday, Dec. 7. The Cyclones went 23-12 last season and won a game in the NCAA Tournament. NIU last faced Iowa State in the 2018 Preseason WNIT. The Huskies then go to Fort Wayne, Ind. the following Sunday to take on the Mastodons of Purdue Fort Wayne, another future Horizon League opponent. The Mastodons won 27 games last year, including an 18-2 Horizon League mark, and reached the WNIT Great Eight.
After the Mid-American Conference opener at Central Michigan on Saturday, Dec. 20, NIU goes to St. Thomas to take on the Tommies on Monday, Dec. 29. The Huskies wrap up their non-conference slate with the second MAC-SBC Challenge game at the Convocation Center on Saturday, Feb. 7.
NIU will host Benedictine in an exhibition game on Wednesday, Oct. 29.
