DeKALB, Ill. – Northern Illinois University gymnast Alanah Wallace has been named the Mid-American Conference Co-Specialist of the Week, the league announced today.

Wallace earned the honor following a stellar weekend at the Golden Girls Classic hosted by Eastern Michigan. The freshman scored a 9.800 on both vault and floor in only her second collegiate meet.

Wallace tied for first on floor, along with teammate Drake White, and placed second on vault. She was one of seven gymnasts in the MAC this past weekend to score at least a 9.800 on two separate events and only freshman to do so.

It's the first time Wallace has been honored and is the first Huskie to win the award this season.

NIU has its home opener this Saturday at 2 p.m. against Ball State at the NIU Convention Center.
