CLEVELAND -- Devon Dawson (Brooklyn Park, Minn./Goddard) has been named the Mid-American Conference West Wrestler of the Week, as announced by the league office today (Jan. 20).
 
Dawson, who was then ranked No. 21/20 by Intermat and Flo, competed in the only bout to feature two ranked wrestlers as the Huskies defeated the Chippewas of Central Michigan on January 16.
 
Dawson faced off against then ranked No. 31 Bryan Caves in the final bout of the evening as NIU led by just one point. Dawson claimed three takedowns in the match as he claimed his sixth major decision with (15-7) and secured the dual for NIU.
 
This is Dawson's first career honor from the MAC and the fifth honor by a Huskie this season.
 
The Huskies continue action at home this week as they host Kent State and Ohio on Friday, January 23. Action will start at 4 p.m. in Victor E. Court.
