DeKALB, Ill. – Elizabeth Poncin of the Northern Illinois University gymnastics team has been named the Mid-American Conference Specialist of the Week, the league announced today.

Poncin took first place and set a new career-high on Friday night in the Beauty in the Beast with a 9.825 on bars, setting a new season-high from the Huskies this season. She had the highest score on a bars routine from any MAC freshman this past weekend and tied for the sixth-highest bar routine in the conference.

Poncin followed up her performance on Friday night with another win on bars on Monday at Illinois State and now has three wins this year. It is the freshman's first Specialist of the Week honor.  

NIU has now had two gymnasts named Specialist of the Week this season with Poncin and Alanah Wallace (Jan. 20).
