DeKALB, Ill. - The Northern Illinois University gymnastics team will face conference foe Central Michigan on Friday night in its final home meet of the 2026 season. ESPN+ will broadcast the meet, beginning at 6 p.m. with Andy Garcia and Kristie Wildeboer on the call.
The Huskies fell just short on Monday night on the road to Illinois State, losing 192.700-192.650. Junior Dawsyn Sallee (Versailles, Ky. / Woodford County High) placed on two events, tying for second on floor and taking third place on vault. Sallee had a team-high 9.750 on floor in the meet.
Freshman Elizabeth Poncin (Tinley Park, Ill. / Tinley Park) won on bars for the second straight meet, tying with fellow freshman Makenna Brooks (Kokomo, Ind. / Eastern).
Poncin was named Mid-American Conference Specialist of the Week on Tuesday after sticking a career-high 9.825 on bars in the Beauty and the Beast Meet on Friday night, the highest score on a bars routine from any MAC freshman this past weekend.
Junior Isabella Ross (Cary, N.C. / Green Level) set a new career-high on beam, earning a score of 9.775 to finish second. Sophomore Drake White (Indianapolis, Ind. / Bishop Chatard) secured her first win on vault this year with a season-high 9.800.
Central Michigan is first in the MAC and ranks No. 33 on Road to Nationals. The Chippewas have a NQS of 195.400 and have a team-high score of 196.075 this season.
Luciana Alvarado-Reid has been named MAC Gymnast of the Week three times this season. Alvarado-Reid ranks as the No. 31 all-arounder with a NQS 39.155. Ava Wellmeier has a NQS of 9.750 on vault, 9.795 on bars and 9.780 on floor.
