MOUNT PLEASANT, Mich. – The Northern Illinois University women's track and field team opened competition at the Mid-American Conference Indoor Championships on Friday (Feb. 27) at Central Michigan's Jack Skoog Indoor Track.
Samira Rosenfeld (Schaumburg, Ill./Schaumburg) claimed ninth in the pentathlon with 3,273 points. She was fourth in the 800 in the pentathlon in 2:30.15, collecting 691 points, and eighth in both the high jump and long jump. Rosenfeld cleared 1.59 meters (5-02.50) in the high jump for 724 points and leaped 5.27 meters (17-03.50) in the long jump for 634 points. Rosenfeld posted personal best marks in the 60-meter hurdles (9.50), 800 meters and long jump.
In the 5,000 meters,
Amelie Ojeda (Lombard, Ill./Willowbrook) ran a time of 17:23.06, the sixth-best indoor 5,000 time in school history, as she finished 15th.
Natasha Chetty (Victoria, Seychelles/Seychelles Business Studies Academy) ran a personal-best time of 7.70 seconds in the prelims of the 60-meter dash, finishing 19th.
Competition will continue at the MAC Indoor Championships on Saturday, Feb. 28, beginning at 9 a.m. CT.
