LEXINGTON, Ky.—The Northern Illinois University Huskies volleyball program has been named a recipient of the 2026 AVCA Team Academic Award as announced by the American Volleyball Coaches Association today (July 23).
 
The Huskies have received this recognition eleven times in program history.
 
Over 1,432 programs from the high school and collegiate divisions earned this award. To be eligible, teams must maintain a year-long grade-point average of 3.30 on a 4.00 scale. The Huskies posted a 3.384 GPA during the 2025-26 academic year.
 
The Huskies landed six on the Academic All-MAC team and saw four earned CSC Academic All-District honors in December 2025.
 
NIU volleyball will open the season at the Southern Indiana Invitational on August 28. Their first home match will be on September 4 as they take on Murray State in the NIU Invitational. The first Horizon League contest for the Huskies will be on September 25 as they travel to Wright State for a two-game series.
