Meagan Schoenrock Garners Second Team All-MAC honor

Nov. 15, 2007

DeKalb, Ill. - After earning Mid-American Conference All-Freshman Team and Second Team All-MAC honors in her freshman season, sophomore Meagan Schoenrock (Sylvania, Ohio / Northview) adds another Second Team All-MAC selection to her resume, becoming the only Northern Illinois volleyball player to be selected to the All-MAC Second Team in consecutive years.

"We are happy that Meagan was able to be a recipient of the award," said Huskie head coach Ray Gooden. "But Meagan can tell you that without her teammates the award wouldn't have been possible."

Schoenrock led the Huskies (14-17, 7-9) in kills during the regular season and leads eighth-seeded NIU into their MAC Tournament quarterfinal match against top-seeded Ohio (23-4, 15-1) on Friday, November 16 at 6:30 p.m. in Toledo, Ohio. Schoenrock finished the regular season with a MAC sixth-best 3.72 kills per game. She has eclipsed her 2006 total of 334 kills with 410 this season, establishing a single-match career-best 28 kills against Kent State on October 19. Schoenrock has also tallied double-digit kills in 21 of NIU's 31 matches, including a streak of eight in a row from September 18 to October 12.

"It's a positive honor for us to receive recognition for as a program," said Gooden. "It's nice for Meagan to be recognized."

The No. 8 Huskies face No. 1 Ohio in a MAC Tournament quarterfinal match on Friday, November 16 at 7:30 p.m. EST.
