DEKALB, Ill. - The Northern Illinois University women's basketball team makes its final stop on its longest road trip of the season when the Huskies roll into Iowa City to compete in the Hawkeye Challenge Saturday and Sunday.

The Huskies come into Saturday's game looking to rebound from a 76-54 loss to Green Bay Nov. 28. In that contest, Kylie York posted several career highs; including points scored, field goals made, three pointers made and steals.

NIU (2-5) comes to Iowa City wrapping up six-game, three-week road trip that began in Cancun, Mexico with the Caribbean Challenge Nov. 21. The Huskies first opponent will be the host Hawkeyes of Iowa. The Hawkeyes (5-3), who also competed in the Caribbean Challenge, come into Saturday's play having lost to in-state rival Iowa State, 44-58.

"Iowa's a really good team. They have big guards that can shoot the three," NIU head coach Carol Owens said. "Obviously, they will be playing at home in their own tournament, so we've got to be mentally prepared. We have to counter their size with speed and get up and down the court."

Iowa leads the all-time series 9-8, with the Huskies winning the last meeting, 59-56, Jan. 25, 1994 in DeKalb. The last Hawkeye victory, a 92-59 decision, came Jan. 26, 1993 in Iowa City. No matter which team the Huskies face on Sunday, it will be the first meeting. NIU has never faced neither Wyoming (6-1) nor St. Joseph's (5-3).

The Huskies and Hawkeyes tip off Saturday at 2 p.m. at Carver-Hawkeye Arena.
