Pinehurst, N.C. -- Northern Illinois junior Zach Jecklin (Bloomington, Ill.) shaved eight strokes off of his opening round score and carded a 2-over par 74 to lead the Huskie men's golf team in second-round action in the Pinehurst Intercollegiate by Gatorade at The Centennial Pinehurst No. 8 [par 72, 7,092] on Tuesday.

Huskie freshman Andrew Frame (Manteno, Ill.) posted NIU's second-best score after two days with a 157 (80-77). Freshman Tim Kay (Bartlett, Ill.) is third for NIU with a 161 (79-82), while redshirt freshman Matt Triplett (St. Charles, Ill.) trails Kay with a 163 (78-85). Sophomore Alex Wagner (St. Charles, Ill.) rounds out the Huskie scoring with a 175 (90-85).

"It was another windy out there and the breeze made it difficult on the course," NIU head men's golf coach John Cleary said. "We're just struggling around the green and having a hard time getting the ball in the hole."

Indiana and Michigan are tied for first place with a 590 (+14). SMU is in third-place with a 592, followed by Penn State (597), Mississippi (598), Wisconsin (599), UNC-Greensboro (600), VCU (601), East Carolina (602), Marquette (604), North Florida (606), Eastern Michigan (609), Marshall (613), Toledo (614), Western Illinois (619), UNC-Wilmington (621), Ball State (630) and NIU (637).

Campillo is followed by Michigan's Billy McKay, Bill Rankin and SMU's Colt Knost, who each finished one-under par (143) after two rounds. UNC-Greensboro's J.D. Bass and Marshall's Trent Schambach round out the top five with even par scores of 144.
