Akron, Ohio -- Northern Illinois freshman Andrew Frame (Manteno, Ill.) turned in his third-straight top ten finish as the Manteno, Ill., native tied for seventh overall with a one-over par tally of 217 (72-73-72), helping the Huskies to a seventh-place finish at the FirstEnergy Intercollegiate, hosted by Akron, at the Firestone Country Club [par 72, 7,125 yards] on Sunday afternoon.

"[Andrew] is hitting it well and with a lot of confidence," NIU head coach John Cleary said. "He has a very good short game and it's all coming together at the right time"

Eastern Kentucky won the overall tournament with a four-over par score of 868, edging Akron (869) by one stroke. Charlotte placed third with an 872, followed by Eastern Michigan (877), Bowling Green (887), Ohio (895), NIU (897), Ball State (900), Miami (OH) (901), Western Kentucky (901), Binghamton (907), St. Joseph's (910), Georgetown (919), Youngstown State (921), St. Bonaventure (927), Cleveland State (929) and George Washington (932).

Eastern Michigan's Graham Hill, Charlotte's Stefan Wiedergruen and Miami's Ben Wood each shared co-medalist honors with a one-under par tally of 215. Eastern Kentucky's Ryan Britt, Akron's Colin Clemente and Charlotte's Corey Nagy were each one shot back and tied for fourth-place at 216 (E).

NIU freshman Tim Kay (Bartlett, Ill.) turned in the Huskies' second-best score of the weekend with a total of 227 (+11). Redshirt freshman Matt Triplett (St. Charles, Ill.) was one shot behind Kay with a 228. NIU junior Zach Jecklin (Bloomington, Ill.) entered the clubhouse with a 230 (+13), while freshman Greg Bauman (Crystal Lake, Ill) rounded out the Huskie scoring with a 242. Sophomore Alex Wagner (St. Charles, Ill.) competed as an individual and tied for 51st with a 230.

"It's good to bounce back and play better [today], Cleary said. "A lot of good things are happening going into the [Mid-American Conference Tournament] and hopefully we can put it all together."

The Huskies return to action on Thursday, as they begin MAC Tournament play in Westerville, Ohio.
