DEKALB, Ill. -Senior Jessie Wilcox (Oshkosh, Wis./West) was named MAC West Player of the Week Monday after turning in back-to-back double-digit scoring performances in both Northern Illinois University victories this past week.
Wilcox, the second Huskies' MAC West Player of the Week honoree of the season, scored a season- and team-high 20 points in Northern Illinois' 76-72 victory over Ball State Wednesday night, going 7-of-11 from the field and 2-3 from the free throw line. She followed that effort up with a 19-point performance in NIU's 67-59 victory over Ohio Saturday afternoon. The 5-7 guard shot 7-of-15 from the field, including 5-of-12 from three-point territory and dished out a game-high five assists and had four steals against the Bobcats.
The Huskies (10-9, 5-1), who are tied for first place in the MAC West return to the floor Saturday when they welcome MAC East leader Bowling Green State (17-2, 6-0) to the Convocation Center. Saturday is TCF Bank Faculty/Staff Day. All NIU faculty and staff receive four complimentary tickets. It's also Girl Scout Day and Youth Basketball Day at the women's game.
