Huskie Tennis to Host Open House

Aug. 27, 2015

DEKALB, Ill. -- The Northern Illinois University men’s tennis team will host an open house at Chick Evans Fieldhouse on Saturday, Sept. 5. Huskie fans and the local tennis community are invited to come out and visit the new indoor tennis courts on the NIU campus from 1-3 p.m., prior to the season-opening football game against UNLV.

The free open house will include tennis instruction from the Huskies, a chance to hit for prizes and test the speed of your serve with the speed gun, as well as the opportunity to win group and private tennis lessons from NIU head coach Patrick Fisher and assistant coach Maksym Bartiuk. Tennis rackets will be provided for fans wishing to participate with the Huskies.

Completed this past spring, three state-of-the-art indoor tennis courts were installed in Chick Evans Fieldhouse, giving the Huskie men’s and women’s tennis teams a place to practice indoors on-campus. Use of the courts is also available to the general public via NIU Campus Recreation memberships

The defending Mid-American Conference champion, and winners of three of the last four conference crowns, NIU men’s tennis team will open the 2015-16 season at the River Forest Collegiate Clay Court Championships, Sept. 11-13, in Chicago.
