GLENVIEW, Ill. – Despite lightning delays that did not complete the second round of play for all teams on the North Shore Country Club course, the NIU men's golf team finished the first day of the Windon Memorial as they unofficially shot a 297. The Huskies tied for 13th officially with DePaul in the first round.
The second round was postponed until tomorrow due to darkness as lightning delays at 6 p.m. forced the remaining teams to clear the course. Three teams did not finish the second round, therefore, only the first
Three Huskies closed their first two rounds of play in the top-half of the leaderboard, paced by senior
Charlie Cameron (Canberra, Australia/Tyler JC) who unofficially finished the day +3 and tied for 27th.
Raphael Denais (Saint-Aventin, France/Lycee Ste Ursule) opened the tournament with a 71, carding four birdies in the morning round, to lead Northern Illinois University as he tied for 14th after the first 18 holes. Denais unofficially finished the day tied for 37th.
As a team, Northern Illinois University officially closed the day in 13th, tied with DePaul.
The Huskies and the rest of the 14 team field will close the tournament tomorrow morning at North Shore Country Club to close the second round and conclude the tournament.
