DEKALB – The NIU men's golf team will continue their fall schedule in the state of Wisconsin as they play in the Marquette hosted Erin Hills Intercollegiate this Sunday through Tuesday. The Huskies will head into this tournament after finishing sixth at the Northern Intercollegiate at Rich Harvest Farms last weekend.
The Huskies will have their top four golfers in the lineup remain the same with
Thomas DeMarco (Lasalle, Ontario, Canada/Morehead State),
Joo-Young Lee (Hillard, Ohio/Xavier),
Jordan Less (Elmhurst, Ill./York) and
Salvador Rocha (Mexico City, Mexico/American School Foundation) holding their spots in the lineup.
Michael Mattas (Streamwood, Ill./St. Edward Central Catholic) will take over the fifth spot with
Paul Schlimm (Shorewood, Ill./Saint Francis) moving to competing individually.
The field at the Erin Hill Intercollegiate is headlined by the number one team in the nation in Texas A&M with two other ranked teams in the tournament in the host Marquette at 22 after they won the Northern Intercollegiate last week and No. 24 Florida State. The rest of the field is as follows, Wisconsin, Northwestern, Augusta, Iowa State, Michigan State, Mississippi, Purdue, South Florida, UC Davis, UCLA, and UTEP.
Erin Hills Golf Course is a par 72 course playing at 7,721 yards as the course was the location of the 117
th U.S. Open this past Summer. The tournament will be played with three separate 18-hole rounds each day with NIU starting their first round on Sunday at 9:00 a.m. CT.
