MEN’S GOLF ANNOUNCES 2018-19 SCHEDULE

Huskies To Host Northern Intercollegiate At Rich Harvest Farms Sept. 15-16

DEKALB, Ill. – Northern Illinois University Director of Golf and Men's Golf Head Coach Tom Porten announced the Huskies' 2018-19 schedule on Thursday. NIU will play in 12 tournaments next season, beginning Sept. 8-10 at the Badger Invitational hosted by Wisconsin.

"We're honored to have been invited to play in these great tournaments," said Porten. "Having a chance to compete against great programs on a regular basis has been a goal for us and we feel this this is our most competitive schedule ever. We can't wait to get it all started in September."

NIU will host the Eighth Annual Northern Intercollegiate at Rich Harvest Farms Sept. 15-16. A national field of 14 programs will come to Sugar Grove that weekend, highlighted by defending tournament champions Marquette along with Big Ten powers Michigan, Ohio State, and Wisconsin.

"Thanks to the Rich family, this event has become a favorite for players and coaches alike and is one of the best events in college golf," Porten said.

The Huskies will then play in the Windon Memorial Classic at Knollwood Club in Lake Forest Sept. 23-24. NIU opens October at the Fighting Irish Classic, hosted by Notre Dame at Warren Golf Course, Oct. 7-8. The next week, the Huskies will play in Indiana's Chatham Hills Intercollegiate at The Club at Chatham Hills. On Oct. 22-23, NIU wraps up its fall slate at the Pinetree Intercollegiate hosted by Kennesaw State. Last season, the Huskies finished fifth in the event with two golfers in the top-10 including rising senior Thomas DeMarco (LaSalle, Ontario/St. Thomas of Villanova/Morehead State).

NIU opens the spring at the General Hackler Championship March 11-12 at The Dunes Golf and Beach Club in Myrtle Beach, S.C. The Huskies will take on the likes of LSU, Texas A&M, and Georgia Tech on a course that will host an NCAA Regional in 2019. NIU will also play a tournament in Florida March 18-19 at the Mission Inn Spring Spectacular hosted by George Mason.

April begins with NIU at the Missouri Tiger Invitational April 8-9, followed by the Boilermaker Invitational April 13-14. The Huskies last regular season tournament takes place April 20-21 at the Robert Kepler Intercollegiate, hosted by Ohio State. Junior Jordan Less (Elmhurst, Ill.) tied for eighth place at last season's tournament. The 2019 Mid-American Conference Men's Golf Championships will be held at Club Walden in Aurora, Ohio April 26-28.
