Meg Wolowicz Named MAC West Player Of The Week

Senior Earns Weekly Honor After Averaging 4.95 Kills Per Set Last Week

DEKALB, Ill. – Senior Meg Wolowicz (Manitowoc, Wis./Manitowoc Lincoln) of the Northern Illinois University volleyball team was named the Mid-American Conference West Division Offensive Player of the Week on Monday, earning NIU's first weekly conference honor of the season.
 
This is Wolowicz's second Offensive Player of the Week award in her career. She previously earned the honor on Nov. 13, 2017. Wolowicz averaged 4.95 kills per set in five matches last week, hitting .255. She opened the week with a career-high 30 kills against Chicago State on Sept. 11, hitting .352 in four sets. Wolowicz followed that with her third double-double of the season against Southeast Missouri State on Sept. 12. The senior had 22 kills and 11 digs as NIU battled out of a 2-0 deficit to force a fifth set against the Redhawks.
 
Over the weekend, Wolowicz recorded her fourth match with at least 20 kills when she put down 20 against East Tennessee State at the WKU Tournament. She also hit a season-high .381 in the match. On Saturday Wolowicz capped the week with 18 kills and a season-high five blocks against Western Kentucky, earning All-Tournament honors. Wolowicz is now second in the MAC in kills, averaging 4.07 per set.
 
NIU opens MAC play this weekend with matches against Toledo and Ball State at Victor E. Court. The Huskies take on the Rockets on Friday, Sept. 21 and the Cardinals on Saturday, Sept. 22. First serve for both matches is set for 7 p.m.
