TOLEDO, Ohio - The Northern Illinois University men's golf team finished the Inverness Intercollegiate Tuesday at Inverness Club in 14th place.
Senior Michael Mattas (Streamwood, Ill./St. Edward Central Catholic) had the Huskies' lowest round on Tuesday with a one-over par 72. Mattas finished the tournament tied for 46th at +12. Jordan Less (Elmhurst, Ill./York) was NIU's top finisher for the second week in a row. The senior posted a two-over par 73 Tuesday to finish the event tied for 40th at 10-over par. Russell Matos (Lombard, Ill./Glenbard South), playing as an individual, also tied for 40th after a final round 76 Tuesday.
Freshman Luc Warnock (Windsor, Ontario, Canada/E.J. Lajeunesse) completed his first tournament as a Huskie in a tie for 77th. Warnock carded his best round of the tournament Tuesday with a six-over par 77 to finish at +22. Scott Dunsire (Naperville, Ill./Michigan State) also tied for 77th in his NIU debut, carding a seven-over par 78 Tuesday. Tommy Dunsire (Naperville, Ill./Naperville Central) had his best round of the event Tuesday with a six-over par 77.
NIU had its best round as a team on Tuesday with a 15-over par 299. The Huskies finished the tournament at +64, seven strokes ahead of Kennesaw State and six behind UNC Wilmington. Texas Tech won the tournament by eight strokes over Tennessee.
The Huskies are next in action at The Jackrabbit, hosted by South Dakota State at The Prairie Club in Valentine, Neb. Sept. 29-30.
DAY ONE RECAP

Senior Jordan Less is tied for 34th after the first 36 holes after rounds of 72 and 77 on the par 71 course put him at +8. Less got off to fast starts Monday, going three under through four holes in both rounds. Michael Mattas also had a one-over par 72 in the first round Monday, but an 81 in the afternoon put him in a tie for 53rd at +11.
Redshirt-Senior Scott Dunsire had rounds of 79 and 78 Monday, putting him at +15 and in a tie for 66th. Freshman Luc Warnock is tied for 75th at 16-over par after two rounds of 79.
Senior Russell Matos, playing as an individual, is tied for 23rd after the first two rounds. He opened the day with a one-over 72, followed by a 75 which put him at five-over par heading into Tuesday's final round.
The Huskies had team scores of 302 and 315 Monday to put them at +49 for the tournament. NIU is two strokes ahead of Kennesaw State and UNC Wilmington, and 11 strokes behind tournament host Toledo for 12th.
