NIU Wrestling Returns Home to Face Buffalo

Huskies look for 12th win of the season

DEKALB, Ill. – The Northern Illinois University wrestling team returns home from its four-game road swing to play host to Buffalo at Victor E. Court Friday night.

"It's good to be home after the long road trip last week," said NIU head coach Ryan Ludwig. "We've been preparing for the next conference challenge."

The match begins at 7 p.m. and will be shown on ESPN+

The Huskies (11-4, 6-2) enter their match with the Bulls winners of six of their last seven duals. This year's squad is looking to become the first NIU wrestling team to win 12 matches in a season since 2003-04 when that team went 12-4 on the year.

NIU wrapped up a 2-0 weekend last week when the Huskies defeated Cleveland State and Ohio. The Huskie win over Ohio was their first over the Bobcats since 2008. Huskie heavyweight Max Ihry earned Mid-American Conference West Wrestler of the Week after earning a pair of victories last week helping NIU to its perfect weekend. He's the second Huskie wrestler to the league's weekly honor this season.

The Huskies are 12-8 all-time versus Buffalo, losing last year's meeting, 23-14 at Buffalo.
