Eugene German (Gary, Ind./21st Century Charter) hit a three-pointer with 8.9 seconds left, giving the Huskies their first lead of the contest.
German finished with a season-high tying 27 points against Eastern Michigan and now has 2,141 career points, sixth best in Mid-American Conference history and eighth among active players in NCAA Division I. The senior guard is averaging a league-best 20.4 points per game, which also ranks 19th nationally.

Zaire Mateen (Queens, N.Y./Laramie County CC) tied a career-high and freshman
Tyler Cochran (Bolingbrook, Ill./Bolingbrook) set a career-high as each scored 15 points off the bench for NIU against Eastern Michigan. As a team, the Huskies tied a school record with 14 made three-point field goals against the Eagles.
The win over Eastern Michigan was the 17th of the season for NIU, tied for the sixth-most in a single-season in school history. Head coach
Mark Montgomery now has three 17-plus win seasons during his tenure, the most by any coach in program history.
Entering play this weekend, the Huskies have a one-game lead in the MAC West Division standings over Ball State with three games to play.
Western Michigan enters Saturday's game with an 11-17 overall record, 4-11 in conference play. The Broncos are 8-5 at home this season. Two players score in double figures for Western Michigan, led by 16.4 points per game from Michael Flowers. Brandon Johnson adds 14.9 points and a team-best 8.0 rebounds per contest.
