DeKALB, Ill. – The Northern Illinois University wrestling program has released its 2022-23 schedule, NIU athletics announced. The Huskies, who signed a class of 11 newcomers this past offseason, have an action-packed winter ahead of them with 11th-year head coach Ryan Ludwig at the helm.

NIU's season commences Oct. 28 with the annual Red/Black Dual before it faces its first real road test at the Michigan State Open, an event which traditionally hosts some of the top talent across the country.

The Huskies return home Nov. 12 for the NIU Duals – NIU will host both Harper College and Lindenwood at the one-day event at Victor E. Court.

The team will have a week off before action ramps back up at the Boilermaker Duals on Nov. 20. The Huskies will take on Cleveland State, UT-Chattanooga and Purdue in the dual.

NIU will have a two-week break to recover until Dec. 4 when the Huskies travel south to face SIUE in the Cougar Clash.

NIU reaches the halfway point of the regular season and kick off Mid-American Conference competition with a road contest at Kent State on Dec. 18.

Following its date with the Golden Flashes, the Huskies will head east to Hoffman Estates, Ill. For the 58th Ken Kraft Midlands Championships, hosted by Northwestern.

NIU travels to sunny Riverside, Calif. in early January to face South Dakota State and California Baptist. Then, NIU will trek to Central Michigan (Jan. 13) and Ohio (Jan. 20) for two more MAC competitions.

The Huskies return home for a "Beauty and the Beast" matchup with Buffalo on Feb. 4; the event, in collaboration with the NIU gymnastics team, will occur at NIU's Convocation Center at 1 p.m.

Six days later, NIU hosts Northwestern in primetime at 7 p.m. at Victor E. Court. The team's final regular season competition will be an away matchup with SIUE on Feb. 19. The MAC Championships are set for March 3-4 in Fairfax, Va. while the NCAA Championships are set for March 16-18 in Tulsa, Okla.
