DeKALB, IL – Northern Illinois University men's golf head coach
John Carlson announced on Wednesday that Craig Long II signed a national letter of intent to join the Huskies for the 2023-24 season.
Long, from Alpharetta, Ga., is in his senior year at Milton High School. He has led Milton to back-to-back Georgia Class 7A state championships. In 2021, Long won the individual 7A title along with Milton's team title. Long was named the Georgia Player of the Year and an All-State selection. He tied for fourth at the 2022 state tournament as Milton repeated as state champs. Long also finished second at the Longhorn Invitational. In the last two years Milton has won 18 of 24 events.
"Craig chose NIU over highly ranked programs because of our competitive schedule, Business School and Rich Harvest Farms, the home of Huskie Golf, while going through the recruiting process," said Carlson. "His maturity, skillset and goals align with elite level collegiate players."
NIU opens its spring schedule March 20-21, 2023 at the Missouri State Intercollegiate.
