Women's Basketball | November 3

DeKALB, IL – The Northern Illinois University women's basketball team takes to the new court at the NIU Convocation Center on Saturday, Nov. 4 to take on Ripon College. Tip-off is at 6 p.m. Tickets for Saturday night's game are $5.
 
Saturday's exhibition will not be streamed and no NIU radio broadcast will be available.
 
On Thursday, fifth-year guard Chelby Koker (Racine, Wis./Shoreland Lutheran) was named to the Mid-American Conference's Preseason All-MAC First Team. Koker is NIU's top returning scorer from a year ago, averaging 15.4 points and 3.4 assists per game. She also shot over 37 percent from the three-point line. Koker was a Second Team All-MAC selection in 2023 after earning Honorable Mention honors in the 2021-22 season.
 
The Huskies return senior guard Jayden Marable (Bolingbrook, Ill./Bolingbrook) and junior guard Laura Nickel (Marshall, Wis./Marshall HS), who each started over 30 games last season while playing in all 33 games. Both players were recognized as College Sports Communicators Academic All-District selections last year for their efforts on and off the court. Marable led NIU with 1.98 assist/turnover ratio in 2023 while leading NIU in playing time with 31.2 minutes per game. Nickel averaged 5.7 points and 3.4 assists per game in 2023.
 
Ripon was 20-7 in the 2022-23 season, earning a share of the Midwest Conference regular season championship with a 14-1 league mark.
 
NIU begins the regular season on Thursday, Nov. 6 at Arkansas State in the MAC-Sun Belt Challenge.
 
Huskie basketball season tickets are on sale now. Women's basketball season tickets start at $35 for general admission seats and $50 for reserved tickets. NIU faculty and staff, members of the NIU Alumni Association or Varsity Club and senior citizens can purchase women's basketball season tickets for $40.
 
The new "Run it Back with the Pack" plan is also on sale, "Run it Back with the Pack" tickets are $15 for a women's basketball general admission ticket.
