DeKALB, IL - Northern Illinois University Women's Basketball Head Coach Lisa Carlsen announced on Wednesday the addition of graduate transfer forward Jayde Van Hyfte for the 2023-24 season.

A 2018 graduate of Annawan High School in Annawan, Ill., Van Hyfte scored 2,775 points and grabbed 1,155 rebounds to make her the eighth girl in IHSA history to have at least 2,000 points and 1,000 rebounds in a career. As a junior, Van Hyfte led Annawan to the 2017 Class A state title and averaged 27.5 points, 12.0 rebounds and 3.0 steals per game. She averaged 27.5 points and 11.5 rebounds per game as a senior. Van Hyfte was a four-time Associated Press All-State selection, earning unanimous First-Team honors her junior and senior seasons.

Van Hyfte (Heft-E) comes back to Illinois after a four-year career at Arizona State. She played in 76 games over four seasons for the Sun Devils. In her freshman season Van Hyfte played in 29 games as Arizona State reached the 2019 NCAA Tournament Sweet Sixteen, shooting 59.4 percent from the floor off the bench. She started all 31 games the following season, averaging 4.7 points and 5.0 rebounds per game.

"Jayde will be a great addition to our team and we welcome her to the Huskie family," said Carlsen. "She has proven to be a good scorer and rebounder at the collegiate level. Her prep career speaks for itself and we welcome her home to finish her playing career where friends and family can watch her. She will bring a maturity and veteran mentality to a team that has a great blend of experience and talented youth."

Van Hyfte joins Shannon Blacher (Burr Ridge, Ill./Montini) and Maddy Fay (Palatine, Ill./Fremd) as newcomers for the upcoming 2023-24 season.
