Kadeja Campbell Named MAC Track Athlete of the Week

DEKALB, Ill. – Kadeja Campbell (St. Ann, Jamaica) of the Northern Illinois University women's track and field team has been named the Mid-American Conference Women's Track Athlete of the Week, announced by the conference office on Wednesday (April 26).

Campbell made her outdoor season debut this past weekend at Baylor's Michael Johnson Invitational, where she ran a time of 54.84 seconds in the 400-meter dash. Campbell's time is the second-fastest in the MAC this spring, behind only Eastern Michigan's Noriyah Johnson, who ran 54.77 on March 30.

The Most Outstanding Track Performer at the 2023 MAC Indoor Championships, Campbell won a trio of conference titles at the MAC Indoor meet, taking top honors in the 200 and 400 meters, along with as part of NIU's winning 4x400-meter relay team.

This is the first weekly conference award of the season for Campbell and the fourth of her Huskie career. She was named the MAC Track Athlete of the Week once during the outdoor season last year (March 30, 2022) and has twice earned the recognition during the indoor season (Dec. 15, 2021, and Jan. 19, 2022).

Campbell and the Huskies return to action at the Drake Relays in Des Moines, Iowa, beginning on Thursday, April 27.
